New Zealand and Australia in late November and December awaits. I am using the packing list I created for my Adventure around America as the basis for this packing list, but with some important differences. Although we will be catching trains on a couple of sectors, and a ferry on another, most of this journey will be traveled by flight. I haven’t brought myself to count exactly how many – something above a dozen…

So let’s talk the details of our packing list for New Zealand and Australia….

Bags (Luggage)

Samsonite Rolling Backpack

This backpack will fit all the work equipment plus my emergency supplies for the long flights ahead.

Swiss Gear Rolling Carry-on Suitcase

This will carry my clothes, toiletries, and Christmas presents. Find it here.

Dwight will have a larger version – being over 6 foot tall means big shoes which means a small carry-on is really not an option for a trip longer than a week.

R.Riveter Otto (in cross-body configuration) + R.Riveter Hobby

This is my go-to bag on a daily basis. Dressy enough for family get-togethers, and practical for this trip. The Otto is made from canvas, with a lovely striped fabric inside. It has a heavy duty zipper across the top, and fits a hydroflask, a book, snacks and ID without being too big. This was the only no-brainer on the luggage side of my list. I’m also taking my hobby on this trip – it’s plain black and it’ll accompany me on a couple of dinner dates we have planned! Because you know we are food people!
